Remember me?

Hello again!  I know I've been away for a while but trust me I've been busy, I just haven't had time to blog about everything.  Let me get you up to speed with what's been going on.  As you may know I was pregnant and I had early signs of labor so I was taking it easy and getting ready for the baby's arrival.  Baby Violet did arrive 2 weeks early and we are all happy that she is here!  I am writing a post about her birth and I'll share it soon.

In my blogging absence I did manage to work on a few projects, here is a quick preview I'll try to write a post about some of these projects:

Nik's Birthday Bunting and New Store Item

For the birthday party I made a bunting and painted "Happy Birthday!" on it using fabric paint. My original idea was to cut out small monsters and glue them to the bunting flags and paint on them, however in order to make that work the letters would need to be very small. I figured it would be best just to make a birthday bunting without monsters instead of trying to make my original idea with tiny unreadable letters.

Making the bunting was fun and after I finished Nik's birthday bunting I started making a few more for gifts and for our house when I thought to myself, "This is so much fun!  I really enjoy making these."

New Skill for the New Year

While I was expecting my son I ran across this adorable cross stitch pattern.  I haven't done cross stitching since I was a little girl and back then I used a giant plastic needle with my children's kit, so I wasn't ready to  jump back into cross stitching.

I saw it again on my Etsy favorite's the other week and I thought to myself, "I should try to make this."  So I contacted the lovely shop owner and she was very nice enough to create a complete kit for me with everything I need for the project.

I'm excited to give the project a try (probably next month), and I'll post pictures of my progress as I learn to cross stitch using a big girl kit.  :)

In the midst of all my red skrit sewing I managed to finish this skirt that I had hoped to finish back in August or September.  Oh well, better late than never!  The skirt will be available for sale in my Etsy store soon.

I've always loved skirts and dresses but I never really wore them until I graduated from school.  Lately skirts have been a little difficult for me to wear because of the baby weight, hank goodness the dresses still fit...well sort of...

My struggle with finding great fitting clothes that will fit me later has prompted me to make my Etsy clothing for women just like me.  Women who want to wear cute things and not have to re-buy things in a different size when their bodies change.  Anyway, back to the skirts...here are a few of my favorites:

Paperbag Skirts

I remember buying sodas from the liquor store and holding them in the bag and thinking the shape would make a cool skirt.  I would always fluff up the top part of the bag because I thought it looked pretty.  I am in the process of designing my own paper bag skirt and I'm almost complete.  I'm SUPER excited that I can finally start sewing and making my own clothing collection.  This has been a dream of mine ever since I was little and I used to make my Barbie wardrobe.  I should have pictures up and the skirt in my etsy store by the weekend!  yeah!
